Jay Z is still making power moves. For his latest venture, he acquired the luxury champagne brand Armand de Brignac, also known as Ace of Spaces.
The gold bottle of champagne has grown in popularity over the years. Everyone from Diddy to Fabolous and even Nelly have been photographed enjoying the label. As for Jay Z, he’s been associated with the brand for some time. Not only is the champagne featured in his “Show Me What You Got” video back in 2006, but more recently, there was a pyramid of 250 Ace of Spades bottles at a fundraiser the Carters held for President Obama.
Though few details have been released, Sovereign Brands issued a statement about the deal. “We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (‘Ace of Spades’) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter,” they stated.
Yvonne Lardner, global director of brand communications for Sovereign, spoke about the company’s long history with Jay Z. She also stated that the mogul “made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.”
This isn’t Jay Z’s first business deal and surely won’t be his last.
