Male shopper dies after falling from the third floor escalator at Debenhams on Oxford Street

A shopper has fallen from an escalator and died at the flagship Debenhams store in central London.
The man, who has not yet been named, fell from at least the third floor of the retailer's Oxford Street store last night.
Children were among the witnesses and five shoppers were treated for shock by paramedics.
A member of staff, who did not want to be named, told MailOnline: ‘I was on the first floor and just saw this thing speed past me. I looked down and saw a giant pool of blood’.

Police and paramedics were called to the West End Debenhams at 6.15pm yesterday but the customer could not be saved.
Another eyewitness said: 'I heard a loud bang, commotion followed and a man was lying on the ground, I initially thought it was fireworks'.

A spokesman for the department store said they were investigating and a statement would be released in due course.
